About the Meeting
This site held information for the 2014 Annual Scientific Meeting of the Canadian Organization of Medical Physicists (COMP), held July 9–12, 2014 at The Banff Centre in Banff, Alberta. Program Overview
For a deeper look at how our professional community came together, read Tracing the Roots and Growth of a National Medical Physics Community. The scientific program ran from July 9 through July 12, 2014, and included scientific sessions, CCPM examinations, a COMP business meeting, and a series of social events. The Highlights session featured the top six submitted abstracts; these talks were judged, with the winner announced at the Friday evening banquet. Continuous coffee and refreshments were served in the exhibit hall from 8 am each program day.

Icebreaker Reception and Public Lecture
The Icebreaker Reception took place the evening of Wednesday, July 9, 2014, beginning at 5 pm at The Banff Centre. The accompanying Public Lecture commenced at 6 pm and was delivered by Dr. Donald Henderson on the topic "Alberta dinosaurs and research at the Royal Tyrrell Museum of Palaeontology," reflecting the museum's work in Drumheller, Alberta.
Banquet / Night Out
The conference banquet was held on the evening of Friday, July 11, 2014, at Brewster's Mountview Barbecue, a western-themed venue roughly ten minutes from downtown Banff. The evening featured a live band, line dancing instruction, cowboy lawn bowling, and a birds of prey exhibit. Buses departed The Banff Centre for the venue at 6:15 pm. The Highlights session award winner was announced during the banquet.
Student Night Out
A student social evening was held on Thursday, July 10, 2014 at 8:00 pm at the Rose and Crown, 202 Banff Ave, Banff, following the poster session. Appetizers, a meal, and a first drink were provided, along with an opportunity for students to meet members of the COMP and CCPM executive boards.
Registration
Delegate and exhibitor registration were both available for the meeting, along with sponsorship opportunities for organizations supporting the conference. Gold Level Sponsors were Elekta and Varian.
Abstract submission was open from February 21 to March 31, 2014, with a deadline of March 31, 2014 at 11:59 pm Eastern Time. Submission was a fully web-based process.
Accommodations
The Banff Centre, a non-profit conference facility within walking distance of Banff Village, hosted the meeting and offered conference-rate rooms for stays between July 6–14, 2014, for bookings made on or before June 1, 2014.
